Retirement from law enforcement often marks the end of a career, but for retired Chief of Police Sean Mannix, it was simply the beginning of a new chapter in public service. After 36 years in policing—serving as Assistant Chief of Police in Austin and later as Chief in Cedar Park, Texas—Mannix remains dedicated to improving officer wellness and public safety in meaningful ways.
Throughout his career, Mannix championed initiatives that emphasized not only effective policing but also the well-being of officers. As Chief of Cedar Park, he introduced progressive policies such as body-worn cameras, de-escalation training, and a nationally recognized officer wellness program. He understood that healthy officers make better decisions, resulting in safer communities. His leadership helped Cedar Park earn dual accreditation from the Texas Police Chiefs Association and the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA), further cementing the department’s reputation for excellence.
After retiring in 2020, Mannix continued his mission to support law enforcement professionals. He became a board member for Sigma Tactical Wellness, an organization focused on improving the cardiac health of first responders. Heart disease is one of the leading causes of death among police officers, and Mannix is helping to promote preventive health measures, ensuring officers receive the medical attention they need before problems arise. His advocacy for officer wellness reflects his deep commitment to those who put their lives on the line every day.
In addition to his work with Sigma, Mannix is actively involved with Williamson County Crime Stoppers, a nonprofit dedicated to solving crimes and enhancing public safety through community involvement. His extensive experience in law enforcement leadership allows him to provide valuable insight into crime prevention strategies, further strengthening the connection between law enforcement and the communities they serve.
Beyond his professional contributions, Mannix remains a devoted family man. As he prepares to celebrate his 20th wedding anniversary with his wife, Eileen, in 2025, he balances his time between family, aviation, fishing, and reading.
Though he no longer wears the badge, Sean Mannix’s influence continues to shape law enforcement and public safety. His unwavering dedication ensures that officers and the communities they serve benefit from his decades of experience and leadership.
