Most of us only ever dream of having a luxurious life. But what if I told you that it’s actually more of a mindset you can easily integrate into your daily routine?
You might be at a point in your journey where you’re always sitting on the couch, scrolling through Instagram, watching TV, and putting off cleaning that pile of dirty dishes. You might feel as if you’re light years away from a life of luxury, but that’s simply not the case.
Here are 5 simple ways to live a more luxurious life.
Enjoy the Simple Things
It’s easy to overlook our more simplistic needs and assume that a life of luxury can only be found in material possessions. While money, cars, and jewelry can certainly be part of a luxurious lifestyle, a much more cost-effective way of inching toward your goal is to enjoy the people around you, or to take pride in the moment you return home after a long, fruitful day at work.
The world around us is also filled with wonder: gorgeous sunsets, falling leaves, magical foreign and domestic cities. Take some time to admire the beauty that life has to offer and try your best to notice what often goes unappreciated.
Quality Rather Than Quantity
It’s better to occasionally purchase items of higher quality rather than to repeatedly buy lower-quality ones.
You can, for example, buy a refillable water thermos, a one-time investment that can save you hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars in the long run (and which can also help you buy more things for your luxurious lifestyle). In fact, a study found that one person can save about $6,000 in 5 years if they choose to use a thermos rather than disposable bottles.
When an item catches your eye, you should begin by asking yourself: “how long will this last?” A good polyester shoe will last a year, and a good leather shoe will last over a decade. Meanwhile, a poorly made shoe will need to be replaced every 6 months or so.
Refine Your Schedule
Scheduling is an integral part of any successful person’s life, but sometimes, our agendas become too cluttered. An useful practice to incorporate into your lifestyle, therefore, is called “time blocking,” which separates your days into chunks of time. This visual representation will clarify how much time you allot to certain activities and will help you set aside more spare time to do what you truly enjoy.
At first, I felt like I had no time to do what I wanted, but after time blocking, I’ve been able to do so much more, and better!
Waking up early—that is, before 6:00 a.m.—is also a great way to take advantage of free time.
Make Healthier Lifestyle Choices
You can’t have a luxurious lifestyle without good health.
Look into better diets and pay attention to what you eat. Your consumption not only affects your physical health, but your mental health, as well. Keep a sharp, happy mind by eating more fish and seafood, and make sure you’re getting enough vitamins from fruits and vegetables.
Healthier lifestyle choices also go beyond eating better; exercising makes you look and feel exquisite! The best part is that your choice of exercise doesn’t have to be intense to be effective—personally, I walk around my neighborhood and ride my bike.
Your body deserves the luxurious lifestyle just as much as your wallet does!
Look the Part to Feel the Part
Assuming you’ve gone through all of these recommendations and want to take things a step further, you can also try to look the part. After all, your appearance should match your lifestyle!
Consider buying fancier clothes—say, a custom suit that screams your name and personality.
You know that car you’ve been eyeing? Why not go ahead and buy it?
Or perhaps you’d like to look younger and more vibrant. Consider a facelift to give yourself a more refreshed and rejuvenated appearance!
Live your life to the fullest. You’ve only got one chance, after all!
