Did you know that in 2018, the three best selling vehicles in the US were pickup trucks? Trucks are more popular than ever and that trend doesn’t seem to be going anywhere.
Whether you’re in the market for a truck for work purposes, towing, or just because you like driving a truck, you’ll want to make sure you choose one that is safe for you and your passengers. You’ve come to the right place for that information.
Here are 5 of the safest pickup trucks on the road today.
1. 2019 Ram 1500 Crew Cab
The 2019 Ram 1500 crew cab was selected as the top safety pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). The Ram earned a score of “good” in all 6 crash categories tested. Two of these tests, the small overlap front and roof strength tests, are very difficult to pass with a rating of “G” (i.e., good).
These scores are an improvement over the Ram’s 2018 scores. The 2019 Ram also earned a “superior” rating in front crash prevention.
In addition to stellar safety features, the Ram also comes with standard daytime running lights and other technology to assist drivers, including optional blindspot detection, optional lane departure warnings, and optional lane departure prevention.
2. 2019 Ford F-150 Crew Cab
The IIHS has named the 2019 Ford F-150 as a top safety pick. It received a top-tier rating in every safety category and performed the best among 11 different pickups in passenger-side small overlap front crash testing.
The 2019 model has high-strength steel in the truck’s frame and military-grade aluminum alloy on the truck’s body. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) also gave the F-150 a five-star overall rating as well as a 5-star rating for driver and passenger safety.
3. 2019 Nissan Titan Crew Cab
The Nissan Titan was redesigned in 2017 and the newer models, including the 2019, have received improved safety ratings. One of the most significant safety improvements for the 2019 model is that the rating for the driver-side small overlap test improved.
The Titan earned a rating of “good” for the 6 IIHS crash categories and only received a marginal score for headlight results. When it comes to the NHTSA rating, the Titan received a 4-star overall rating, a 4-star rating for frontal crash and rollover crash results, and a 5-star rating for side crash results.
Of course, even the safest vehicle may fare poorly in a crash, depending on the circumstances. If you find yourself injured in a car accident, you may want to consider hiring an attorney. Before you use Google to search for “attorney for truck accident“, save yourself some time and check out local law firms.
