The time is the ninth century, and the game is set in ancient England where Vikings invade kingdoms. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is the 22nd release and 12th instalment in the long-running Assassins Creed series. It is also the successor of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, which was released in 2018.
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla takes the series to an entirely new level, thanks to its large map. It will take us to 873 AD where the Vikings will invade England. The player will be playing as Eivor, a Viking raider-leading role, which can be played as female or male. Besides, the game is set to be initiated in the holiday season and will be available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Playstation 5, PC, Stadia, and Playstation 4. So what do you need to know about this set to be released games from Ubisoft? Here is everything you need to know about this latest title.
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Gameplay
Ashraf Ismail (Valhalla’s creative director), who has also been working for the Assassin’s Creed series for over nine years, shared some details on the game to the Washington Post. His main reason why he proposed the Vikings age in the Valhalla title was simply that he was in love with the Vikings ever since he was a young child. This was the best time to bring out those times’ people and the culture just like it once was. Ismail believes that what transpired in the Vikings Era was what shaped the Europe we know and love today. So he wanted to bring the politics, kingdoms, war, and kings into life.
Integrating Vikings in the series is an odd idea bearing that the old games were once based on knights. But this new idea might be more exciting and engaging, and we cannot wait to see how it turns out.
The game will introduce Evoir, who is the mighty Vikings raider and the leading character. You will have the chance to choose whether you want this role to be male or female.
Your main objective as the player is to lead your clan away from ruthless shores of their native land, Norway. Of course, you have to find a new home for your people, and this will not be an easy task as you will face brutal enemies and the kingdoms are ready to chase you off their lands. You have to become victorious through a battle so you can win the flourishing farmlands of England. Explore the open world and build a new settlement for your clan when you win glory.
Furthermore, the game comes with a customization feature, which will likely be one of the most used keys. You can use this to change the hairstyles of your character, tattoos, facial features, and even how the longship looks.
Ubisoft says you can do more than battle. You engage in lots of relaxing activities like fishing, hunting, drinking games, Vikings rap battles (pretty cool, right?), and so much more. Additionally, you can launch attacks on the Saxon troops and destroy the fortresses in England. This will create more space for you to build and customise new buildings into barracks, a tattoo parlour, blacksmith, and more.
Features of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will bring both new, old, and removed features. But what are some of the features you can expect in this title?
Removed Features
Some annoying and lovable features that will be removed in this recent version include:
- Level Grinding: Ubisoft wants the players to pursue quests as much as they want and as per their own discretion, hence the removal of level grinding.
- Skill Trees: It will be called skills graph, but unlike the skill trees, it will have upgraded abilities.
- Map Size: It won’t be as big as the Odyssey.
- Naval Combat.
Returning Features
Some of the new and returning features you can expect are as follows:
- Insta-kill feature: Assassin’s fans were bothered when the hidden blade was not available in the Odyssey title. But luckily, it is now back in Valhalla. According to Ubisoft, the blade will be available from the start, and Eivor would assassinate anyone with just one hit.
- Eagle Vision: According to Norse mythology, the raven is a symbol of Odin, and that is who will be accompanying Eivor.
- Loading Screens: You can pilot Eivor as you load different quests and areas.
- Advanced RPG mechanics.
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will not feature a multiplayer option but will instead be a single-player game. Besides, it will come with a new theme and advanced features, which we have never seen on any other Assassin’s Creed title before. It is the ultimate goal of Ubisoft to take its players into the Vikings age and experience what historians think led to the end of their era.
