Nowadays there is a lot of talk about health but it’s always connected to physical beauty and weight loss to some extent. And we forget about the internal health that matters the most if you want to live a long and happy life. So what is one thing that affects our bodies the most? It’s obviously the food we consume and especially its nutritional value. Then let’s talk about some dishes and their effect on us in detail.
Like it was mentioned before, we have placed the physical beauty on the pedestal and made body image more important than body function. While we stress over weight loss, make up and cosmetic surgeries, there’s little talk about actual nutrition and health. We destroy the chances of our own future happiness and wellness with crash diets and bad role models. So for a start of a new beginning, you should try making some wholesome food at home, like this healthy zucchini bread. It has no oil or butter in it and honey is the main sweetener instead of regular sugar. It’s basically a perfect summer recipe!
Start by sifting together all the dry ingredients in a large bowl. Then pour in unsweetened applesauce, honey and egg, mix well. Fold in the grated zucchini and bake for an hour. Enjoy as a snack or a great breakfast option!
Another thing worth mentioning is that our view of health really affects the children as well. According to various reports, modern kids most often throw away or don’t eat their fruits and vegetables. And the growing numbers of young girls with body dysmorphia and anorexia are simply terrifying. We need to stop these self-destructive behaviors and help the youth understand healthy diets and the value of fitness. Then and only then we can actually make a change.
Desserts can also be a part of a healthy lifestyle. As for myself, my favorite dessert is either meringue pie or almond joy cookies. Meringue is just very light whipped egg whites that can make any pie look fancy. And the cookies have the regular buttery base but with some additional shredded coconut, chocolate chips and slivered almonds that make them so irresistible. However, moderation is key!
