In recent years, men have become more interested in fashion than ever before.
This is likely due to the fact that the Internet and social media has given thousands of influencers the opportunity to create their own trends as opposed to having fashions magazines as the main source of inspiration.
Now that 2019 just walked through the front door, it’s time to start looking into what men’s fashion trends are going to be big this year.
Not sure where to start? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered.
Let’s take a look at what you need to keep an eye out for.
1. Short Shorts
There was a time where men frequently sported mid-thigh length shorts to show of their lean, athletic legs. Sadly, as time went on, men’s fashion began to move toward a style that left men mostly covered from head to toe.
Fortunately, it seems short shorts are making a comeback.
While most likely confined to regions with warmer climates, short shorts can be an integral part of many different outfits, ranging from a casual T-shirt to being paired with a dressier top (and even a coat).
Speaking of coats…
2. Leather Jackets
No, we’re not saying that everyone needs to walk around like they’re fresh recruits of Hell’s Angels.
This look should be far more sophisticated. And, it isn’t limited to just black, either.
Blues, browns, and even darker greens are viable options when it comes to rocking a leather coat. Longer styles appear to be the preferred option, as well. For more examples and references, you can visit https://www.
3. Clashing Patterns
This isn’t to say you should intentionally wear plaids and stripes together. It goes a bit deeper than that.
The patterns should be more abstract, such as stuff you’d find in 80’s and 90’s fashion. The bright, warped, almost chaotic style from those eras stands out further when you pair two different types together.
While any two contrasting patterns should do the trick, the colors of the two pieces should complement each other. Socks are a subtle but noticeable place to incorporate colors and patterns. According to No Cold Feet, more guys can pull off a boldly-colored pattern sock than think they can.
4. Layering
Layering’s been a trend before, but it’s back for 2019.
A combination of pieces of oversized tees, turtlenecks, and coats overtop creates a cozy look that’s equally fashionable.
Even as winter comes to an end, you can still layer thin jackets and longer shirts. When in doubt, throw a blazer over your shoulders to give your outfit a unique look that you can’t quite achieve any other way.
5. Skatewear
This trend has seen a much-welcomed revival in the past few years.
Once again, hoodies and long tees come into play here. But, you’re also given the opportunity to make your outfit more casual as a whole. Ripped jeans, scuffed shoes, and loose belts are all staples in this style.
