When hearing the term Influencer Marketing a few years ago, many would think of a very limited and exclusive advertising strategy – product endorsement with stars like Beyonce, Jay-Z and so on. Fast forward today, influencer marketing is one of the most powerful digital advertising strategies – and we’ve partnered up with a specialist to tell you all about.
We’ve partnered up with Dawid Karcz (commonly known online as Virex), the owner and founder of Digitype Media, a digital marketing agency which focuses on connecting brands with influencers. His agency has grown significantly in the last year and the agency has a large portfolio of working with some fantastic brands known globally. Dawid has sat down with us and shared his special knowledge on influencer marketing and what the buzz is all about.
Q: What exactly is influencer marketing in your own terms?
A: Well, to simply put, influencer marketing emerged with the rapid rise of social media within the last few years. It’s putting your product, service or website in front of your audience, but endorsed by an influencer. When brands heard the word ‘influencer’ years ago, they would think of something that cost millions of dollars – like ads with TV celebrities and football stars. Influencer marketing takes the idea of celebrity endorsement and places it into a modern-day, content-driven marketing campaign. Influencers are super accessible and this advertising strategy is something brands should wrap around as soon as possible.
Q: Do you think influencer marketing is more effective than other strategies?
A: advertising via influencers is extremely important and powerful when targeting certain audiences, specifically Gen-Z audiences. Working with specific influencers also allows brands to easily reach certain niches such as gaming, fashion, beauty, travel, finance and so on. All clients who have decided to work with our agency and integrated influencer marketing for the first time ever saw an incredible ROI since we carefully crafted and executed the campaign.
Q: If there are brand owners reading this article, how should they get started with influencer marketing?
A: Great question – I want this to be read by business owners and realise how powerful influencer marketing is and how much money you’re missing out on. For starters, you need to sit down and decide what it is you want to achieve. From sales and engagement to simple website visits – this is super important and plays a big role in what influencer(s) to work with.
At Digitype, we act as a middleman between the brand and the creator. The brand sits down with us and lists all the things they want to promote, what regions, demographics and other targets – our agency then works based on the clients’ budget and executes a high performance campaign to meet the needs and end it off with great results.
To conclude, influencer marketing is definitely something that any brand or company needs to implement into their marketing strategies. Going forward into 2021, more and more consumers are spending more time browsing social media and spending hundreds of hours watching content from their favourite influencers, with less hours and attention going into TV, SEO and forums.
