Here, we talked to Joe Parker of InventureX about crowdfunding and innovation:
What Makes a Crowdfunding Campaign Innovative?
Well, a project can be innovative in many different ways. You can have an innovative product or an innovative campaign.
There was a campaign on Kickstarter a few years back for widgets. Not very innovative, but with the innovative marketing and creating the right kind of hype, the guy sold millions of dollars’ worth of widgets.
So, a campaign can be innovative in so many different ways.
Do Innovative Projects Always Succeed?
No, innovative crowdfunding campaigns, whether with an innovative product or an innovative campaign like the widget guy, can only succeed if their innovations are appealing to their target audience. If that is not achieved, the campaign is dead, whether it is innovative or not.
One of the things that we do at InventureX is making sure the right message is being sent to the right people. Paying detailed attention to minor details like that can significantly improve the odds of a successful campaign.
What Is the Future of Crowdfunding?
The future is unpredictable, otherwise, I would have been a trillionaire by now. But the amount of innovation and the variety of crowdfunding campaigns is showing a high probability of becoming more mainstream.Having considered all of that, the probability of the crowdfunding campaigns to expand is very high.
What Kinds of Campaigns Do You like to Work On?
I like to work on things that people find interesting. There are some ideas that we run a campaign on, and at the beginning, I am not completely sold on the idea, but when I see the feedback of our crowdfunding campaign it makes me that much more interested in the product or service that is being offered. It feels like the public challenging my taste, so I try to see what the public likes more.
What Are You Looking Forward to in 2020?
AI. Crowdfunding is expanding and so is AI. Soon we will see a huge wave of ideas involving AI that will go on crowdfunding websites. I am looking forward to seeing the content of these websites and the limits of creativity that will be crushed seeing AI at work. 2020 will be an amazing year to see different types of ideas that turn into crowdfunding campaigns and eventually a successful business.
