We want all the best for our cats.
Going to a vet appointment on New Year Eve? – been there, done that.
Buying expensive cat food a few days before payday? – well, who doesn’t like eating pasta for several days?
Throwing a cat birthday party? – does your cat also get more presents than you do on your birthday?
We become responsible, forever, for what we have tamed, and it’s not just words. Our pets depend on us every single day.
Your kitty can’t speak a human language, but it doesn’t mean she can’t communicate with you. If you want to make sure your cat is attached to you, look at these signs:
She brings you presents
Unfortunately, cats don’t usually bring money they found under the bed. But they really love bringing their pet owners dead mice sometimes. It’s not because cats want to freak us out; it’s just their way to show us their appreciation. So, all these bugs, mice, and frogs are gifts your cat wants you to have.
She likes looking at you
Have you ever woken up in the middle of the night and found your cat staring at you? Indeed, it might be creepy. However, it’s another way your cat shows her affection to you. One thing you should know is that cats don’t do this to everyone.
When your cat looks deep inside your eyes, it’s as intimate as kissing.
She wants to play with you
Cats are not as playful and active as dogs, but it doesn’t mean they don’t like playing with their owners. If you don’t want your pet to exhibit depressed behaviour, you should pay more attention to her.
For instance, start petting your cat more often. Also, you can get some presents such as the best cat water fountains, a cosy cave, a scratching post, or toy mice. It will keep your kitty entertained while you are not around.
If your cat is eager to play with you and show you her fuzzy belly to you, it means she feels protected by you. As you can understand, cats don’t flash their bellies to everyone since it’s a pretty vulnerable spot.
She rubs against your legs
Sometimes, cats simply can’t get enough of their owners’ legs. Needless to say, it might irritate pet owners, especially when they carry groceries or a hot cup of tea. According to a veterinarian Dr Karen Backer, rubbing against humans is another sign of love and trust.
That’s why you should let her do it whenever she feels like it. If you start screaming at her or beating her (don’t you dare!), your cat will feel rejected.
Whenever she does it, she puts her scent on you. This way, she claims that you belong to her. Cats can’t stand the idea of other pets rubbing against their owners’ legs.
She bites you
You shouldn’t get mad when your cat tries to bite your fingers. It’s her way to show her love, and she can’t really understand that it hurts (yeap, love can hurt sometimes!). If you have more than one cat in the house, you might notice that they bite each other all the time.
She purrs when you are around
Do you really want to hear the sound of love? Just listen to your pet carefully. So, whenever your cat purrs in your present, she just wants to say ‘I love you’.
Another interesting thing is that purring can actually help cats to feel better. The whole process causes some vibrations that can ease breathing, build muscle, lessen pain and swelling, repair tendons, and heal wounds. So, let your kitty be close to you and start purring.
She follows you
You might have noticed that sometimes your cat can’t stop following you around the house. She likes doing it because she wants to get attention and show a loving connection.
If you want to check this theory, pay attention to your cat when it’s not near feeding time.
She likes head-butting
Some cats really like head-butting even though it might look like an odd behaviour. The thing is that cats have glands concentrated on heads and cheeks. So, whenever your cat starts head-budding, it means she wants to mark you with her scent. It’s their way to tell other cats that ‘this human is mine’.
The bottom line
Most of the time, cats look very independent and even prideful. However, it doesn’t mean they can’t love their owners. They have different signs that can help them to show their true ‘cat feelings.’
If your cat likes to bring you presents, showing her belly, playing with you and following you around, it means she feels comfortable around you. So, don’t get mad whenever your kitty starts head-butting or wants to bite you. In cat language, it means ‘I love you, human’.
