Whether you’re shielding, self-isolating, or just a bit nervous to venture back outdoors, having a stay-at-home birthday can be just as fun as going out. Though many are venturing back out, there will be those who prefer to stay in for big events.
We thought we would do some research and find some ways to make those stay-at-home birthdays as fun as they can be to make sure you’ll be able to make memories, even without leaving the house.
Check out some of our ideas below.
Murder mystery party
Murder mystery games packs have been available since before we had even heard of Covid-19, and they’ve always been a great way to have an exciting party. Grab a murder mystery pack and dish out the characters to your friends and family. Let them dress up as their characters, get into role and then let the fun begin.
With a whole host of different themes and storylines, you will certainly find a set that can intrigue all of your guests. A murder mystery party is a tried and tested way to have a great time while staying at home.
Remember you can ask your guests to buy lateral flow test covid kits and make sure they’re all negative before coming over!
At-home pub crawl
Now, we’ve all heard of pub crawls but during the pandemic a new stay-at-home version of the pub crawl popped into existence. These at-home experiences came in different ways, with some pubs offering packages and others hosting virtual events.
Hosting your own at-home pub crawl can be a fun and creative way to entertain your guests. Why not try decorating each room as different pub or bar, offer different drinks and use that cocktail shaker you’ve had at the back of the cupboard for years! Then invite over your guests and have a drink in each room as you would in a usual pub crawl.
The upside to this is, of course, you can invite only the people you want to see and avoid all of the other pub patrons!
Quiz night
If you’re not totally over quizzes, you could download or make your own quiz and host a quiz night for your friends and family. This can be a fun way of getting people of all ages involved in the celebrations, and it doesn’t have to be over zoom any more!
Games night
If the quiz night isn’t quite right, how about a game’s night? Gather all of the board games you own, grab your friends and family, and sit down to an evening of monopoly and scrabble. If you make it through without an argument, we’d love to know your secret!
Another version of games night, and probably cheaper, is to look up the rules of a few card games! Playing with chips or pennies can give the game a high stakes feel and will really get everyone invested.
At-home spa day
A great one for a weekend with the girls, an at-home spa day can leave you feeling pampered and refreshed without having to leave the house! Lots of beauty and wellness brands offer at-home spa kits now, or you could DIY your own with face masks and manicures.
If you’re looking for some relaxing art and craft activities to accompany your spa day, try some diamond painting all-inclusive kits. You and your friends will be able to unwind and create some beautiful artworks at the same time. This is a great way to enjoy a relaxing celebration, and it can all be done at home meaning you don’t have to worry about covid-19 anxiety.
Film night
And for a simple night in, grab the popcorn ad your favourite film and sit down to a night at the movies. With streaming services like Netflix and Disney Plus releasing new titles all the time, you could even make it a premiere night. There are a number of different companies that rent out projectors too, so you can bring the big screen home.
Of course, getting back out is important too and if you are feeling anxious, remember to buy lateral flow test covid kits to ensure you’re covid-free once you do venture back out.
