As we emerge from our year-long hibernation thanks to COVID, our home has also taken up many new roles. Home for some has become an office, gym, school, and in some cases, even a greenhouse.
Our homes have become multi-purpose buildings; they may need a little extra TLC. So show your home the love and appreciation it deserves by giving it a good clean.
Don’t know where to start? Here are some spring cleaning hacks to make your chore list manageable.
A Clean Break
You may not think about cleaning as a pricey thing to do. After all, it is a chore. There seem to be products advertised for very specific chores and that can add up.
If money is tight, don’t worry. You won’t have to put cleaning supplies on your credit card. Everyday items you have at home can double as low-cost alternatives to pricey cleaning supplies.
Declutter
This can be small like donating clothes we outgrew, or finally tidying up the garage or attic. While on the subject of decluttering, ladies, don’t forget to check the expiration dates on your makeup.
For large decluttering projects, consider going to Discount Dumpster Rental. Having a large container can save you from holding onto junk until the next trash day. Plus, you can get everything done in a day or weekend.
Baking Soda for Almost Everything
Baking soda is a cheap and versatile product. Sprinkle it on your carpet, mattress, and other smelly areas to get rid of odors. Let it sit and vacuum it off after a couple of hours.
Don’t forget to also add a bowl or container of it to your fridge to absorb bad odors.
Clean Your Appliances
That’s right, appliances also benefit from a good cleaning.
Running a clean cycle on your dishwasher and washing machine can help you keep smells at bay. A clean home wouldn’t be possible to maintain without clean appliances.
Don’t forget to scrub down your fridge and maybe add a lazy Susan to make it easier to reach all your products.
Let’s not ignore our microwaves either. Place a bowl with a cup or two of water and steam clean your microwave.
Make a List
The worst part about spring cleaning is forgetting to do one chore. After a day of intense cleaning, you will be sore and tired. You’ll just want a warm shower and maybe a relaxing drink.
Avoid this mistake by making a spring cleaning checklist. For those of us that seek immediate gratification, a checklist can be a blessing. The joy of crossing out each chore once completed can be just what we need to complete the next one.
Consider a spring yard cleanup as part of your list. Casualties of a cold and bitter winter can be unsightly and though your home may be sparkling on the interior, the exterior will give a different impression.
Use These Spring Cleaning Hacks
Many of us have faced adversity and uncertainty this past year.
So let us start this new year with a clean slate. Spring cleaning can be almost cathartic. You may end up cleaning more than just your home.
So go ahead; declutter, dust your home with baking soda, reinvigorate your appliances, and take back your home.
